1st Birthday Cake Smash Photography with an Orange and Turquoise Theme

I really enjoyed collaborating with Oscar’s Mum for his Birthday Cake Smash Photography session, a mutual love of turquoise worked wonders with the colour palette where we chose to twin turquoise with orange. Little Oscar’s Mum even made the amazing cake herself! I’ve used this backdrop in little Jessica’s cake smash session – it’s amazing what a difference a little bit of styling makes.

Despite evidence to the contrary, some babies really aren’t too sure about touching their birthday cake, let alone setting about “smashing” it. With a little encouragement though Oscar very happily deconstructed his Mum’s handiwork and was very excited to reach the sponge underneath the bright orange glittery butter icing.

The After Cake Smash Photography Bubble Bath!

This session took place in the comfort of the client’s home with my portable studio lighting and props. Obviously cake smashing fun can be a rather messy business, which is why I bought my tin bath along with me too for a post cake-attack rinse down. I think this was the part that Oscar enjoyed most; although he was rather over eager to give everyone and everything within range a splash too.

All in all it made for a great cake smash photography shoot. If you are interested in booking your own birthday cake smash photography session then do get in touch.
