Buttercup Meadow – Child Portrait Photographer Kent

Shooting into the sun goes against all the basic priciples of photography, you’re supposed to take photos with the sun behind your shoulder right? Not so. You can get fabulous portraits with some creative lighting and this is just one example of what you can do when you challenge the rules.

Taking full advantage of the combination of what photographers refer to as the “golden hour” incorporating sunshine, warmth and the gorgeous buttercup meadow just across the road, last week I took this little lady out for an impromptu photoshoot. It was about 7.30pm and the sun had just begun to set. During the summer months in favourable weather this is the ideal time of day to shoot because the sun isn’t too strong, the shadows aren’t so harsh and you don’t find yourself squinting trying to block out that bright ball of gas in the sky. It made for some really beautiful images – even the creeping buttercup weed looks stunning in the right light.

Whilst we are beginning to enjoying the hazy days and drawn out summer evenings, if you can’t squeeze a shoot in on a weekend why not consider an early evening session instead – you can contact me to book directly via the blog or by filling in the contact form on the main website.
