Dad – Father’s Day 2013

When Dads get involved in a family portrait session something special happens. Restless babies magically sleep, kids eyes light up and Dad never fails to encourage a smile and a chuckle from even the most headstrong of children; for the power of Dad is quite amazing. I really do love it when Dad’s and Grandad’s make a special effort for me during our photography session to interact with the camera.

I was looking back through my rather epic photo archive in search of images to share to celebrate Father’s Day 2013 it struck me that it’s is nearly always Mums who book photo sessions – multitasking has a lot to answer for! I’ve also got lots more photos featuring Mums than I have Dads. I’m not sure why this is, I’m not a Dad so I can’t speak on their behalf, instead I referred to HuffPost Parents for answers and I found this:

A Letter to My Son Regarding Father’s Day

“This Sunday is Father’s Day. But I’m here to tell you not to worry about that. I don’t need anything from you.”

“The best gift is the hug I get when I put you to bed, or the laughter I get when I tickle you, or the thirty minutes of extra sleep you give me every fifth weekend. None of those are premeditated, or holiday-specific; they’re just you being you. And that’s all I need, every day.”

Mike Julianelle – Blogger, DadandBuried.com

Maybe Dad’s don’t feel a need to be showered in gifts any more than they feel a need to be in the picture. But it’s so awesome when they do, so with this in mind between now and 20th June 2013 you have the opportunity to save £15 on session bookings and / or session gift vouchers upon quoting the words FATHERSDAY13. Please contact me for further details.

Without further ado, let me share with you some of my favourite “Dad” images from my archives, and those Dads, the ones who expect nothing but give everything; you totally rock!
